Yes and yes. There’s a bit of a difference in how somebody might react when discovering their father figure did something horrible, as opposed to how they’ll react when they discover that somebody has desecrated the body of their father figure (and that person presents a clear and present danger to the whole of mutantkind.) I think Cyclops not being ready to help in such a situation would have been wildly out of character and inconsistent.
