  • When a writer ignores continuity, and his editor leaves it go to press, how much responsability falls on both? There are communication among all editors and their writers? The editor-in-chief reads all scripts? How works this process?

At the end of the day, the editor is responsible for everything in the book.

But I think you misunderstand the job and the goal. It’s not to maintain the continuity, it’s to tell excellent and engaging stories that excite and involve the readers.

Yes, there’s communication between creators and various editors. But with so many titles being published so regularly, it’s impossible to keep absolutely everything straight. And it always was–even when it was mostly just Stan writing stuff, he’d make mistakes and slip-ups regularly.

Continuity is a tool for storytelling.
