  • Weird question but i've been wondering this for a while. There used to be so many incredible artists back in the last couple of decades like Kevin Maguire, Brian Bolland, Arthur Adams, the preacher cover artist(cant remember his name but he was incredible), bill sienkiewicz, john totleben. What happened to them? Its like most of these artists barely ever work on the big comics. All they do is covers. Its just disappointing is all.

Well, you need to understand, drawing comics is hard. For some people, it’s just in the blood and they do it no matter what. For others, their perfectionism or overall speed or ADD or whatever gets in the way of them being easily able to make a living at it. If those folks are good enough and popular enough, they can sometimes get by simply by doing covers, and commissions. But there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer–apart from the fact that the job really is very hard.
