  • I think this was a little before your involvement but I was reading the "Deathlok: The Living Nightmare of Michael Collins" trade and it reminded me of an old question I'd never gotten an answer to. Do you know why they went from Jackson Guice to Denys Cowan for the last 2 issues of the mini? I like both artists and I think both did great jobs. But it's one heck of a style shift. So much so that I'd be surprised if it was planned that way.

It wasn’t planned that way. It’s been a long time, so I may be sketchy on the details, but as I remember it, that DEATHLOK project was started without any specific publication date–it would be scheduled and released once it was finished. So it was a slow burn project. Butch started on it, but then the work slowed down as he began working on DR STRANGE during that same period. And then, teh decision was made to schedule DEATHLOK to come out at a certain point. Butch couldn’t do both, so he decided to remain doing DR STRANGE. And so a new artist was needed for teh balance of that project, and Denys Cowan was hired to finish it.
