  • instead of cancelling titles, why doesn't marvel try lowering the prices of books that her failing on the market? Like is that even an option?

    No, it is not. As we’ve spoken about here in the past, all that does is leave money on the table. It seems counter-intuitive, but comics readers don’t make their purchases chiefly motivated by price, but rather by their interest in the material. Consequently, you don’t see any great uptick in sales by lowering the price–a few more people might read the book, but nowhere near enough to offset the revenue that you’re sacrificing through the price-cut. And that’s lost revenue for the Retailer as well as for the publisher.
