At some point this Spider Woman cover thing will either blow over or it won't. In the end though, isn't it really the readers who decide whether or not you guys went over the top in terms of sexuality? I mean you can sit here and defend it all day, but aren't the people who are buying the books the ones who will really decide whether or not Marvel maybe took a step too far?
Yes, for sure.
And I will bet you all the money in my pocket that the cover in question will sell just as well as any of the otehr Manara variants that we’ve done in the past. The people who like Manara’s work aren’t the ones who are complaining about it, and the ones who are complaining about it would never buy it in a million years.
The larger issue here is about the depiction of female characters in comics, more than just that one SPIDER-WOMAN cover. And that is something that the readers can affect, by supporting those titles that they feel do a good job, and not following the books that do not.
