"Doesn’t mean that it cannot be done again succesfully. How many movie screen Batmans have there been?" - How many of those were good? Just because you can slap the Batman name on a turd and watch people will throw money at it doesn't mean it's a good long-term strategy or even a good example.

I think the idea that there is only one person and there can only every be only one person who can ever play a particular Marvel character is absurd. If nothing else, the passing of time is going to put the lie to that.
Closer to home, if you don’t like the Batman example and you don’t like the Hulk example, there’s also the question of Spider-Man (regardless of how good or bad the films were.)
