  • Hi, Tom. I was wondering if you could give me an advice. If you want to make comics for the international market (that is, in English), but your whole name is too Portuguese, so it's hard to be pronounced by people who don't speak the language, should you use a pseudonym better suited to make it easier for you to be remembered?

I think that’s entirely a personal choice, and one that I don’t really have the background to give you.

I don’t think that I’d ever advocate anybody changing their name. But by that score, lots of creators have done it, rightly or wrongly, so there’s certainly something there.

I expect that, if your work is excellent, fans will figure out how to pronounce and spell your name. After all, they’ve already dealt with Sienkiewicz.
