Tom, if someone at Marvel has a good story to tell (let's say Iron Man inadvertently kills someone) and the editor approves it, the story where the same thing happened thirty years ago (with the Carnelian ambassador) won't need to be referenced, right? Because with that kind of time lag, even a momentous event like that, there simply isn't a lot of resonance with current readers and so you won't need to bring it up in the current story? Not saying you won't, you just won't need to?
That is, in essence, correct. You can bring up any such event if it is relevant to what is going on today, but it’s not mandatory–and only the smallest percentage of the audience is going to concern itself with that knowledge.
