  • Hi Tom, while I haven't been reading them, I am have grown very curious about DC's weekly titles, Batman Eternal and Future's End. So much so that I have decided to pick them up even though my interest in DC is at an all-time low. It's the format that intrigues me, having that weekly hit. I enjoyed it when Marvel events came out on a bi-weekly schedule. Any chance to see a weekly from you all?

Wait a minute, wait a minute: you’re buying two weekly comic books even though you’re not reading them?

It’s your money, you can do with it what you wish, but I don’t know that this is the wisest way for you to be spending it.

It’s always possible that we’d do a weekly book at some point, but that’s an incredibly difficult proposition unless you are willing to just throw a ton of bodies at it. As I think those two DC projects show, where they need to use multiple artists every issue, and not the same ones, and a team of writers.

There’s nothing wrong with that approach if it works, but our publishing philosophy is, rightly or wrongly, built more around recognizing the specific creative contributions of the individuals involved. In other words, while we do sometimes use a team of artists or a team of writers, that really isn’t the ideal for us.
