  • Hey Tom. Tomorrow, July 6 is John Byrne's 64th birthday. I'm asking a number of people this question. Of all the great work John has done over the years, what is your favorite issue/book?

I don’t know that there’s one specific thing I can point to. In terms of stuff I’ve gone back to the most, it’s probably be the X-MEN run with Chris and Terry, those Count Nefaria issues of AVENGERS, the FANTASTIC FOUR run, primarily the issues he inked himself, that one STAR-LORD job, and the CAPTAIN AMERICA anniversary issue. But those are all from back when I was a reader, so that’s no great surprise. Of the more modern stuff, I thought his two crossover books, BATMAN & CAPTAIN AMERICA and DARKSEID VS GALACTUS, while flawed, were a lot of fun, and I also liked the GREEN LANTERN story he did with Larry Niven.
