“If you want to know about such things, you’re welcome to ask the creators in question, and they’ll give you whatever information they choose—in most cases, nothing significant, because it is really none of your business.”
True, it’s not our business but at the same time Marvel and it’s creators have impacted the fan base to the point where fans legitimately care about the people behind the corporate veil. That can be frustrating at times, but it’s a type of relationship that many businesses would love to have with their audience. That said, I don’t think it’s unfair for someone to “worry” about the people that have enriched their lives through this medium.
There’s a lot of flack you get on this Tumblr and I’m very empathetic towards your situation; you’re often in a lose-lose situation with certain people who can’t see past their own mindset. In those cases, I’m all for ironic, silly or “aggressive-toned” responses you give. Most posters deserve it. If I recall correctly though, it seems like the guy who asked you this question was quite honest and seemed to have had the best intentions in mind when he asked. He wasn’t a stubborn dick or trying to provoke or accuse you, or Marvel, of anything. They, out of compassion, asked a question and I think you were unjustly rude to that individual.
I think you could have handled the situation a bit better, without giving an answer that read very rudely, and told him something like “I can’t answer that question, reaching out to the creator would be better” rather than saying “it’s none of your business” like an angry parent to an obnoxious child. Again, most posters here deserve to be told off. It seems to me that this one person didn’t really have it coming and that bothers me the most about this situation. Not that you decline to comment or that we as fans aren’t allowed to have that information disclosed to us by you (and possibly Marvel as an entity), but that you did it rather rudely to someone who seemed innocent. Still love you, Marvel and especially this Tumblr, but I think you’ve finally played the dick card and I personally found it a bit upsetting since I see you as a very compassionate person towards fans – unless they truly deserve a dick answer.
