Fans tend to postulate this sort of combination from time to time. But they overlook one thing:
Writing isn’t additive. Writing is subtractive.
To my experience, if you put two writers on a story together in the way you’re talking about, then the result you get is only maybe 80% as good as one of them might have done alone. It’s never better than either of them alone.
And that’s because writing is about way more than how many words you happen to use on the page.
That doesn’t mean that no writers can ever collaborate successfully, only that it is rare indeed that writers working on the level of Warren or Chris are bettered by trying to merge what they do with what somebody else does.
