  • I realize that Original Sin is a mystery and I am digging it but three issues in and I'm not sure it's hitting "Every comic, ESPECIALLY AN EVENT COMIC, is some reader's first." It's a mystery to begin with, and I just don't think Dr. Midas has been established well to new readers. I don't think, in the middle of a mystery, a new reader should have to ask "Wait, why is there a glowing evil Dr. Ben Grimm?" That detracts and distracts from the mystery. Very few people are familiar with him.

If he was a brand new character, you wouldn’t be making this argument–because he’d be brand new.

But thinking that it’s unfair if a mystery story set within the Marvel Universe uses characters that you are unfamiliar with is a bit of an ask. There are readers who don’t know who the Watcher is.

So long as the characters are introduced and the relevant information is given within these books, it’s all fair game.
