In your opinion, are there any writers who returned to a book after a successful first run, and managed a second run that was as good or better? I can't think of any examples offhand (which is why I wouldn't really want to see Busiek back on Avengers, for example). But that doesn't mean there aren't any.
Maybe the closest I can think of would be Michelinie and Layton on IRON MAN. But even there, I don’t feel like the later “Armor Wars” run was as strong as the earlier “Demon In A Bottle” run, though others disagree with me on that.
Typically, though, all going back does is taint the memories and legend of the earlier run. Because you can’t make the readers ten years old again.
