No, it merely means that those narratives need to be handled differently than in other mediums.
In terms of the scale on which we publish serialized stories, movies and novels cannot compare. We fill more time and more pages by far, at least in most cases. So the demands on our storytelling are going to be different.
And because of that, it’s very difficult to sustain interest in a steady-state situation. You can have a great romance in a novel, or in a film–but in a comic, that’s just six issues. And then after that, there are six more, and six more, and six more.
