  • Mr Brevoort, let's talk death in comics. Personally, I might be a simple guy, but it always hooks me well (one year ago with Spidey, now with Wolvie and I am still waiting for Jean Grey...). However, once a character is back, I feel that the stories lose one of their key driving factor: it is highly unlikely that a character is going to die again. Hence, all stories become less entertaining since that character will most likely be safe for a long time... What do you think?

I think that there’s an essential suspension of disbelief that you need to have just in general.

If the character has their name on the cover of the comic, it’s unlikely that he’s going to die as well. But the stories aren’t necessarily about that so much as they’re about how it is that the character does not die–how he rises to whatever challenge is placed in front of him.

And seeming to die doesn’t make it less likely that a given character won’t die again. Most of the primary Marvel heroes have been dead on more than one occasion by this point.
