I might not know how Research and Development works. That's a fair point. I'm just making a layperson's guess on how things work period. I'm not one who claims to have sales knowledge when I don't. It's my understanding that a lot of the "Marvel Money" comes from other media and merchandising and not from the comics themselves, which, of course, still have to make a profit. Wouldn't it be in Disney's best interest to make comics with an eye on new marketable concepts and stories? The big win.
What sort of R & D could you possibly be doing if you were limited to merely parroting what the films were doing?
