I was surprised to hear that Kitty Pryde would be a supporting character in Star-Lord, because I'd assume that title relates to a potential Star-Lord movie pending the success of GotG-- not necessarily something definite, but maybe testing the waters, doing R&D. And Kitty, of course, can't be in a Marvel Studios film. How much leeway does Marvel have with stuff like that? Why wouldn't a higher-up suggest replacing Kitty with someone Marvel could put in a Star-Lord movie?
You’re making a bunch of assumptions here as to how and why we tell the stories that we tell. And as this case plainly illustrates, you’re off-base. We tell stories that we think our worthwhile, and aimed at our audience, the comics readers of the world. While those stories might one day go on to influence what our film or television or animation divisions might do, that’s not really our specific aim. And the best way to get stuff turned into movies and TV shows is to produce excellent stories.
