  • I find it funny how the Spiderman Family Business OGN emphasizes how little Peter Parker cared about his parent because as far as he was concerned his aunt and uncle are his parents, yet it came out at the same time as a movie in which Peter Parker angsts endlessly about his parents (or just his father really). That really confused a new reader friend of mine. Why do you think the movies place so much emphasis on his father? (they even have Richard be the cause of Peter's power)

    Different creators are attracted to different aspects of the character.

    For those filmmakers, Peter being an orphan and never knowing his parents is something powerful that they’re trying to tap into.

    Others handle it differently. But there’s no one right or wrong way to do this, there are just assorted storytelling choices that get made.
