  • If you think Kang is such an important villain, then why is Kang's singular greatest achievement: taking over modern day Earth, never brought up? That story was not undone by time travel, people still remember it. Yet nobody ever mentions it, not even in Kang stories. In one story Bucky didn't even know who Kang was, and Steve introduced him as a "time travelling terrorist" rather than "that guy who once took over the world and destroyed Washington". It would raise his cred is all I'm saying.

In general, how many times do you see references to older stories this way in our newer stories?

Doctor Doom doesn’t show up with his scrapbook. Magneto doesn’t show slides of his past nefarious achievements. The Red Skull doesn’t stop to reminisce about the bad old days.

Absolutely nobody is prohibited in any way from talking about any previous stories. But apart from saying, “Hey–remember that story we published a few years ago?” there’s often no compelling reason to do so.
