Tom, I've read your thoughts here for quite some time, and generally you come across very well. But one thing I've noticed is that you sometimes lump fans all into one category of thought or behavior. It's hard to cite examples with so few characters allowed in these questions to you, but please let me remind you of how diverse our opinions are and just because a few fans are bitching you out about something doesn't mean most of the rest of us feel the same way.

Whenever I say “the fans”, what ’m talking about is a significant portion of the vocal fan base. In most cases, it’s the majority. So yeah, of course, absolutely that doesn’t go for every single fan–try to get any ten fans to agree on anything, can’t be done! But if we’re talking about how the audience tends to function as a group, what it does rather than what it says and so forth–then that’s the best terminology that I’ve got to work with.
