Hey Tom, I recently bought the Walt Simonson Thor Omnibus, and I was surprised that the colors were redone by Steve Oliff. There's nothing wrong with the colors, they're good colors, but I was wondering what the reasoning was though. I would've thought that anybody willing to shell out for an Omnibus wouldn't do that on a whim and wouldn't be swayed by retouched colors. So I guess what I'm asking is, why recolor Thor in the first place?
Walter can correct me if I’m misremembering, but I believe that he was the one who suggested and championed the recoloring–and it was all done maintaining the palate of the original books, just modernizing it in terms of the techniques that are technologically available today that weren’t back then.
