  • Given how many liscensing deals you do, how come you can't make a deal to reprint Rom? Its not like with GI Joe and Conan, which other companies have the rights to, nobody is using Rom. Parker Brothers isn't using Rom for anything at all, so wouldn't it be better if they made SOME money off of it by reprinting it with you guys rather than none? I'm not speaking as a fan, I'm speaking as somebody who's curious why nobody tries to make money off of this.

You’re making the assumption that everybody involved has the same point of view on this, and in fact just how much money should be made (or there is to be made.) That’s far from the truth.

Also, and this is just the reality of it, reprinting ROM is far from the top priority of Marvel at the moment. If we could do it, we very well might (though we have lots of other stuff that we can still reprint as well.) But it’s neither urgent nor important to what we’re doing right now–so getting a deal done, one that is likely to be complex, especially for the relative pittance that’s likely to be earned, simply isn’t a huge priority.

And the owners of a property can decide what they want to do with that property. They’re not obligated to do a deal simply because they aren’t currently making money with that property someplace else.
