Not that you need any assistance, Mr. Brevoort, but I just had to ad my two cents on this one. If you’re looking for another Moore Swamp Thing, it’s simple: find a character that’s only been around for 11 years (about how long Swampy was around when Moore took over), is relatively unpopular on a fiscal level (aside from a previously cancelled comic, has only made a handful of appearances before his “relaunch”), and whose current title, created to cash in on a failed movie, is in danger of cancellation. Voila! A masterpiece awaits! Dude, OF COURSE Moore’s Swamp Thing is amazing. First, it’s ALAN MOORE. Second, he had carte blanche to do what he wanted, since the comic was about to get axed. And finally, he only used what elements of the DCU he felt were proper. I mean, the storyline for which Moore is probably most recognized, “American Gothic,” is about as far removed from the DCU proper as was probably allowed. Sounds to me like you’re not so much asking why more comics can’t be like Moore, but rather why more comics can’t make you feel the way you did the first time you read Moore.
