It’s the typical story.
AIM were a part of IRON MAN 3. That put them into the zeitgeist in a bigger way. Which meant that a bunch of creators started thinking about them and wanting to use them. And then, they did.
Tends to happen with the assorted aspects of the MU that make it into the world of television and film, whether we plan for it or not.
