  • “I find it hard to believe that people wouldn’t believe in aliens after the skrull invasion. If they don’t then the Illuminati should let the planet be destroyed because they’re too stupid to live.”

You shouldn’t have answered this twice, your first answer was on point. I think long-term readers need to gain some understanding about accessibility. In part of maintaining a world that is supposed to be “outside our window” you need moments like this. No, the Marvel U “normies” aren’t oblivious, but new readers coming in may be. So you need to keep the title accessible. You would think guys reading since SECRET INVASION get it, but they don’t. And honestly, it was put in there as part of the plot to be tongue-in-cheek. It was meant to provoke a humorous emotion, not anger. Some readers need to lighten up. I understand the frustration that comes with being a long-term reader, but something so insignificant like that line doesn’t bother me one bit. Didn’t give it a second thought.

But then think of all the new readers starting off with this NOVA as their entrance point into the Marvel U and think of the enjoyment they’d get from something that’s just a throw-a-way line to seasoned readers. It’s absurd to give it a second thought. It was meant to enhance those readers’ experiences, not hinder from long term fans who get that aliens invaded like 2 years ago Marvel time. Some readers just need to calm-down and rethink what they’re arguing. I get irked when writers forget their own continuity within their own plots. Not when a book puts in something so minor like this one line, in a series that, in my opinion, is meant to be a springboard for readers who have been out of the loop and probably don’t even know what SECRET INVASION was. Shit.
