tom, i read that both kurt busiek and mark waid had a discussion and were in agreement that kang could appear in both CAPTAIN AMERICA and AVENGERS FOREVER on the basis he is a time-traveller and the two appearances would not necessarily contradict the other, but at the last minute the editor of one of the books stopped waid from using kang. you are the editor of both those books. why did you do it.
I wasn’t the editor of both of those books at the time. Matt Idelson was editing CAPTAIN AMERICA. Now, you’re talking about a situation that’s fifteen years old at this point, but my recollection of it is that it became apparent to Matt and myself that trying to juggle Kang in two simultaneous storylines and to make either of them seem important wasn’t going to be easy, if at all possible. So at a certain point he opted to change Kang in CAP.
