    >If DC offered you the EIC position, would you take it? And if you do take it, what changes would you make in the DCU?>

DC isn’t offering me squat, so it’s not really something I need to worry about.

(Although I did recently prank Axel by making him think that I was moving to the West Coast to become the new DC EIC back around the time Wacker was leaving. Got him completely!)

I also think, to answer this question realistically, I’d need to first understand what the goals and objectives of the parent company were in regards to DC. It’d be very easy to say, “I’d make all the books good and serve them up just the way you like them!” but there are sometimes reasons for why things are done a certain way that aren’t apparent from the outside, so while popular, it wouldn’t be realistic to make those claims.

The one aesthetic thing that would shift, I think, is that I wouldn’t spend so much time worrying about people saying or thinking that the DC characters are too bland or boring, or in trying to make them into Marvel characters. There are things that DC has classically done well, aspects that are hard-wired into those characters that a lot of people spend a lot of time fighting against because of cynicism or fear. I’d let the DC heroes be heroes and not be constantly apologetic for it.

Also, I’d try to treat my creators more like partners, and allow them greater ownership of the stories they’re working on.

But if you asked Dan or Jim, they might say the same things about Marvel, so what can I tell you?
