CBR just did a poll about which X-Men character out of Storm, Iceman, Bishop, Havok, Polaris, Kitty, Jean, Angel, Psylocke and Colossus should get a solo. Nearly 7,000 people have taken part. I used to work in market research that's actually a pretty large sample. Does it seem suprising to you that Kitty is currently in the lead over Storm and that Polaris beat out Bishop and Angel?
To start with, that poll data is as skewed as any poll data from a CBR poll. It doesn’t represent the will of the audience as a whole, merely that of a relatively small number of CBR board readers.
Even there, it doesn’t measure 7000 people, it measures 7000 responses. All you need is one dedicated fan with enough free time and a burning desire for a Kitty Pryde or Polaris book to vote again and again to skew your data.
So I don’t really make anything more of this than that it’s anecdotal.
