  • Maybe this is too "inside baseball" for a fan to wonder, but how do you guys feel when someone like Brubaker or Millar writes for you but then explodes and decides to do creator-only stuff? As a fan it's a double-edged sword. It's like you don't want them to leave the greatness they've been doing to your favorite fictional characters, but are so happy for their success. I also think it allows a level playing field for newer guys. Just wondering if you have an opinion that you'd like to share.

    People gotta do what people gotta do.

    As comes success, so too come opportunities. And it would be foolish and selfish to expect our creators not to take advantage of those opportunities when they arise. You can’t force somebody to work for you–not and get good work out of them, anyway.

    Good comics are good for the industry and good for everyone. So when people like Ed and Mark go off to do their own thing, that’s fine. And there’s nothing saying that one or both of them won’t at some point do something else for Marvel. But even if they don’t, if what they’re doing is helping to keep the industry alive and vital, good for them!
