  • What's your opinion on launching weekly titles when it comes to both profit and the fans? With news of DC launching three of em them this year, I can't imagine the idea of fans consistantly buying 4 or 8 new $4 comics much less 16. The quotes say it's about reinvigorating the line but it honestly sounds like a way to get more money (and I love DC dearly).

I think that if the comics are of interest to readers, then they’ll sell, and if not, they won’t.

But things have been moving steadily towards a model of increased release frequency in all media for some time now, so this doesn’t surprise me at all.

And if the choice is to publish, say, a BATMAN series weekly, or a bevy of other titles featuring characters less likely to sell as well–I know which is the better bet fiscally. Creatively, it’s a greater question.

DC’s job, just like our job, just like everybody’s job, is to get you to read and follow their books. They think this is a strategy that will work for them–and only time will tell whether it will or not.
