Hey Tom, question about the current Avengers line. Since the Hickman relaunch there has been clear differentiation between Avengers and New Avenger and those books' goals. What is the difference between the mission statements of Avengers and Avengers World? I'm enjoying both, but I'm not sure how Avenger's World is more than additional issues of Avengers each month. Thanks!
As I’ve said before, it’s pretty much additional issues of AVENGERS, with a greater mandate to focus on some of the newer characters we’ve brought into the team.
We conceived AVENGERS WORLD in the aftermath of INFINITY, when it became apparent that Jonathan was fried enough so that he couldn’t maintain AVENGERS’ twice-a-month shipping schedule for awhile. So we reduced the frequency to once a month, and created AVENGERS WORLD to take up the slack.
Of course, by this summer, we’ll be accelerating the ship schedule on AVENGERS again–but by that point, AVENGERS ASSEMBLE will have run its course, so the overall number of AVENGERS titles will remain constant.
