Tom, I can't remember the last time I bought a comic from DC. I don't enjoy their characters and I don't enjoy their stories. I simply don't enjoy DC comics. But even I can appreciate the great animated movies they bring out. Do you have any idea, why Marvel doesn't come up with more animated movies? We got Planet Hulk, which was cool, but why didn't we get World War Hulk? The last battle of that arc would have been great on a big screen. Or how about a controversial Civil War? So much potential
I can’t speak about this in any detail–not really my area–but as I understand things, the direct-to-video business isn’t really all that lucrative for us. It’s a lot of effort for relatively little return. So our animation guys would rather put most of that effort into things that will garner us a greater return. We do the occasional DTV project, like the upcoming Punisher/Black Widow piece. But it’s not really the bread and butter of our animation division.
But Jeph Loeb or now Steve Wacker could tell you more definitively, and more accurately.
