We made up Sharon Carter’s miscarriage. We make up all of these stories. So I understand what you’re saying, but it’s a little bit strange to me to give one fictitious event greater “reality” simply because it got into print first. This is just semantics, but you see what I mean?
Now, in terms of ORIGINAL SIN, it’s a fine idea, but not one that really lends itself to a story, given the state of the board right now. Sharon is dead, so Cap learning that she had a miscarriage doesn’t really get you anything more than a depressed Cap–and we’ve kinda got that already.
On the other hand, if you switched it, if you revealed that what was thought to be a miscarriage wasn’t, and that in fact there’s a child out there in te world somewhere that was Cap and Sharon’s, now you’ve got a ballgame. Now you’ve got the hook into a story that could go to a lot of different places and that would cut to the heart of the character.
That’s the kind of thing we’re trying to get at with the ORIGINAL SIN stories.
And just to be clear, we’re not doing Cap’s missing baby. This was only an example.
