  • Hi, Tom. The latest Marvel releases, particularly the All-New Marvel Now books, are all slated for paperback release in trade, rather than hardcover; that's assuming the solicits and Amazon are correct. As someone who collects his trades exclusively in hardcover, that's disappointing. All-New Invaders, Black Widow, Loki: AoA, All-New X-Factor, Amazing X-Men, Avengers World, She-Hulk, and Inhuman, to name but a few, are not getting the hardcover treatment. Would you explain why this is, please?

Our Collections team makes decisions of format based upon the state of the marketplace and the feedback they receive from the retailers and our bookseller partners. And this is a constantly fluid thing, what people feel is going to perform better at any given moment.

So, right now, softcover releases seem the way to go. It’s possible too that, like SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN, we could at some point go back and do a hardcover if there’s sufficient interest in one. But at the moment, softcover seems to be what people want.
