How come there were no Marvel characters in the Lego movie? Are the DC ones they had just more well-known overall? I only saw the trailer so far, and that had Batman and WW at least.

Lego has a long-standing relationship with DC, and those are the characters they chose to license for the film. So really, you’d have to ask them why they made that choice.
