Our most devoted fans fancy themselves insiders, in that they read and study every facet of our business that they can get their hands on. And this means that it’s very easy for fan speculation to become commonly held wisdom–especially when it’s presented with an insider’s veneer. Plus, our fans tend to be reactionary. Just look at all of the people who, hearing about SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN, imagined the worst version of that story possible and then reacted as though that was what we were doing, as though that was what had been announced.
