  • Ok, I know it's a big hypothetical but bear with me. Marvel shuts down and DC hires you to save the DCU. It is entirely your choice, based on your expertise. Do you A) somehow go back to the Old 52 and it's costumes/continuity, or has that ship sailed too far out to sea and you B) just work with the Nu52, or is that too toxic and you C) reboot it yet again? Rephrase more politically correct if you wish, I wasn't trying to load the question, just curious from an editorial POV. I miss reading DC.

I don’t know, I’ve honestly not given it enough though to give you a cogent answer. I will say that you’re assuming that the folks running DC would even have that choice available to them. Given the way they’ve been looking to vertically integrate across WB in the manner of Marvel, they may at this point be locked into certain things in terms of the characters and their histories and appearances due to applications in other mediums. I don’t know that they are necessarily, but I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that anybody could walk in there and turn the clock back to 2009, or 1984, or whenever in terms of the designs and the histories.

Short answer with no prep at all is that I think the only way to go is forward, you can’t go back at this point, you can only try to improve what you’re doing.
