New Brevoort Formspring

I'm really excited for the NIGHTCRAWLER solo book, written by Chris Claremont (and I love Amazing X-Men). As a reader, my sympathies tend to lie more with the JGS side of schism, vs. the 'revolution' and it seems Kurt Wagner has always been an important voice for the notion that acceptance for mutants will never come by force. What Xavier suggested in abstract, Nightcrawler has lived on a daily basis since birth. Will we see the solo book have some real impact on the franchise as far as stories?

We don’t ever try to do stories that are throw-aways, but when fans such as yourself speak about books like this having a “real impact” on the franchise, you tend to be looking for something very specific–your question here, for instance, assumes that your interpretation of Nightcrawler is what will be in evidence in the solo series. And maybe it will, and maybe it won’t. It’ll be Claremont’s interpretation, certainly. And it won’t be a different Nightcrawler than the one who’s been appearing in AMAZING X-MEN. But I don’t know that I can promise you in any way that the NIGHTCRAWLER solo series is going to be driving the overall storyline for the X-Men franchise or anything of that sort.
