    >I found FF #16 almost disturbing in the excessive revenge sequence.  IMO it  bordered on being sadistic.   But what I found  infuriating was the meta commentary by writer Lee Allred.

Scott Lang to Doom:  “I’ve had the misfortune of meeting people who are convinced you’re not a monster.  That you’re nuanced, layered, deep. Having some of the cellmates I’ve had would cure them of that view”

I seem to remember some other quotes from you from some years back…

“Just what is it that sets the Lord of Latveria above all of his sinister colleagues?….

I think it all boils down to complexity, panache and power…

Doom may be a cad, a bounder and a no-goodnik but he’s got a personal code of honor.  If he gives his word he never breaks it.  Such nobility found in the person of one so blackhearted is fascinating.”

So which is it with you Tom?     Is Allred’s story saying that any time when Doom isn’t anything other than a cardboard, moustache twirling villain, it is nothing but a lie?  Are we to dismiss out of hand any story by any other writer that didn’t write Doom as a monster?   >

Don’t equate the opinions of a character in a story with those of the writer. Or editor.

That all said, Doom may be a monster who’s fascinating, who’s multi-shaded, who has depth–but he’s still a monster.
