  • Could you tell us once and for all how digital comic purchases count toward a books "sales"? I've heard that they don't. I want to start going digital with some series (mostly for space issues) but I absolutely do not want to hurt the books I'm reading. Can you shed a little light?

When you buy a digital comic through Comixology or the Marvel App or wherever, we get the money. That most definitely counts.

It doesn’t count towards Diamond rankings or any of that nonsense, which may be what you’re thinking of. This is one of the reasons why those rankings aren’t a true reflection of the total reality–they don’t chart anything outside of individual copy-sales through Diamond (and even then, they only list how the titles performed relative to one another–any listing of sales numbers is a guesstimate, and often not one that’s particularly accurate.)

So yes, whether you buy it as a tangible copy from your retailer, or a digital copy–or in collected form–your purchase counts.
