Hey Tom, I've seen a lot of comics people talk about this on twitter and tumblr, and was wondering what is "flatting" in comics/coloring?

Flatting is the process in which all of the individual shapes within a comic book page are outlined and selected, and filled in with a flat color. It’s the mechanical part of preparing a page for actual coloring, and typically done by an apprentice to the colorist, or somebody hired to do just that.
