Inspiration is one thing, but it’s not the whole thing. AVENGERS ARENA isn’t BATTLE ROYALE or HUNGER GAMES or LORD OF THE FLIES (depending on which one you think it ripped off this week.) It took some inspiration from those stories, but it then did its own thing with it, in the context of those characters and the Marvel Universe. And it’s far from the only example–I don’t think Chris Claremont ever saw a film that didn’t inspire a storyline in X-MEN, for instance, same with Roy Thomas and a horde of other guys. You can make a comparison, sure, I don’t mind that. but calling a series that you haven’t read “bad fan fiction” is a bit more than that–it’s uninformed and designed to insult. I give as good as I get here.
