I just started following comics this year and I don't think relaunches or new #1s are confusing. What is actually daunting when reading back issues are the big series with hundreds of issues, where I don't know when creative shifts or new storylines or anything happens. However, has Marvel considered doing more with subtitles? Seems like they are only used for miniseries (except for Thor: God of Thunder right now) when they could be a good way to distinguish series, rather than by vol. numbers.

The problem with subtitles is exactly what you mentioned–they have the tendency of making a series seem like a limited series or an adjunct to another series, neither of which helps sales. So we’ll do it when we have a reason to and a subtitle worth using, but not as an absolute thing.
