Thanks to all involved for their update on CBR about the "Inhuman" creative differences, I'm looking forward to more info with the Axel-In-Charge column later this week. Everyone acted like professionals and I'm glad that things have worked out for those involved. Yeah, cynics might say it's all just "good public relations" by management and talent, but no matter what occurred I'm glad that there aren't any twitter insults or harsh words flying. Marvel just keeps showing others how it's done!
It is good public relations. But more crucially, it’s good talent relations. What we do isn’t science, it’s alchemy, it’s art–and that means that you can sometimes combine a bunch of elements that sound good and come up with something that isn’t working as you’d expect. (The converse is also true–sometimes you can combine unlikely elements and get a massive success out of nowhere.) It’s a no-fault sort of a thing, it happens–so rather than getting all crazy about it, the best thing to do is to find a way to manage everybody out of it and then tackle the problem from a different angle. Nobody needs for there to be more mediocre comics in the world because things just aren’t jelling as everybody had hoped.
