  • I really enjoyed Infinity - it was one of the biggest scoped stories that I've read from Marvel, and a nice bridge of the Cosmic side with the Earthbound side. I'm curious as to the choice to make so many of the major parts of the plot happen in the side stories, though. Most of the time I feel Marvel's crossover and event comics are very good at being self-contained and only really needing to read the core series, yet Infinity had so much happen outside of it. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The short answer really is that we failed in this case to make the core series operate independently of the tie-ins. Because we got into the creation of INFINITY relatively late in the game, we didn’t have the typical amount of lead time that we usually do, and so the choices we had to make early on locked us into doing things the way we did. That’s the reason why we ran the flowchart in every issue showing the key chapters and how they all fit together, as a guide for readers. It’s not typically the way we like to do these things, but in this instance it was the best compromise we could make. And if you enjoyed INFINITY, then I guess it all worked out.
