Do you ever hear a pitch for a story and love it, and then think the execution is awful? I don't want names or examples nor do I want to give any. However as a fan there are tons of concepts that I feel start or sound strong on the surface but when placed into issues suffer horribly. How do you feel in those situations? I'm sure the money they may still rake in is a great cushion, but does it hurt you as a fan of writing and a fan of the Marvel Universe?
I don’t know about “awful”, which is a pretty loaded description, but sure, there have been stories that sounded great when they were pitched that didn’t work out the same way in the execution for any number of reasons. What we do isn’t science, it’s art, so there’s no formula for success. It’s all alchemy, really. But the opposite is true as well, sometimes a particular story works out far better than you ever thought it would.
