I would argue with your characterization of Rogue as a “crazed killer.” While the results were tragic, her actions were rooted in trying to save lives. That she was unaware of the full scope of what was going on and could not trust her teammate is very much the end result of where all of the discord within the Unity Squad has led. But all that said, none of it changes that you and others are unhappy that your favorite character has met their demise, nor should you be. But this is the nature of the storytelling that we do. Every character has fans that don’t want to see anything bad happen to them, but if we followed the wishes of all of those fans, nothing interesting at all would ever happen in any of our stories. We’re telling action-adventure fantasy stories, and that involves a constant element of jeopardy and consequence for the characters involved. And just as Peter Parker can meet his end in battle with Doctor Octopus (and have his body usurped by his enemy), so too can a Rogue or a Scarlet Witch or a Wonder Man or any character come to their end if that’s where a particular story takes us–one that we feel is a story that’s worth telling.
