  • So if it's important part of characters that they're teenagers, I shouldn't expect them to grow up? Does that mean that with characters who did grew up (Chamber, M, Darkhawk, Nova), writers and editorial came to conclusion being teenager really isn't important part of their appeal, while characters, like Jubilee, stayed teens because it was?

Not all characters are created equal, so what applies to one character doesn’t necessarily apply in the same way to all other characters. In each instance, you try to examine the character in question and work out what the essential parts of what makes them who they are, what makes them work, happen to be. I don’t know that the four characters you list are great examples of growing up the characters, though, as all four of them currently appear a lot less often than they once did, and have fewer (albeit more hardcore and rabid) fan bases. How much of that is down to simply aging them, and how much of that is due to the specific stories they’ve been in over the years is different in each case, I’d say.
